Psalm 37:1 (KJV) – “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.”
Have you ever wondered why those who cut corners seem to move ahead faster? Ever wondered why dishonest people sometimes appear to prosper while the righteous struggle? It can be frustrating. It can even shake your faith. But Psalm 37 begins with a clear command: Do not fret.
Psalm 37 teaches us that fretting is dangerous, it leads to anger, envy, and wrong decisions. When we focus on evildoers, we lose sight of God’s justice. David reminds us that the success of the wicked is temporary. They “shall soon be cut down like the grass” (v.2).
Instead of worrying, we are told to:
- Trust in the Lord (v.3)
- Delight yourself in Him (v.4)
- Commit your way to Him (v.5)
- Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him (v.7)
The wicked may flourish for a moment, but the righteous have a lasting inheritance. God sees. God knows. God rewards faithfulness. Your obedience is never wasted.
Action:
Today, refuse to compare your journey with that of evildoers. Shift your focus from people to God. Trust Him. Do good. Stay faithful. Rest in His promises. Instead of fretting, start believing. Instead of envying, start trusting. Your future in God’s hands is far more secure than the temporary success of the wicked.
