Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. In other words, faith is what you receive when you listen to the Word of God. Faith is the spirit that the Word of God transfers and enables you to act as God would.
So faith comes from hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the [preaching of the] message concerning Christ. (Romans 10:17 Amplified Bible)
When you listen to the word, you receive the Spirit of God. Faith come by hearing, not by hearing anything at all but by hearing the Word of God. As you sit in the atmosphere of the Word, you receive the Spirit that inspires hope to face uncertainties.
The Word of God is potent and powerful. It’s able to inspire hope and possibilities. It initiates possibilities and begins change. it crashes hopelessness and lifts up the spirit of a man. A day without the Word is like a day without water. The longer you stay without listening to the Word the easier it is to wither and die spiritually.
Three essential conditions that produce faith are;
1. The presence of an effective faith filled preacher: Some preachers kill faith. They speak their mind and opinion. They cannot preach, except they have been sent.
2. A receptive and willing hearer: Faith is transferred when you are willing to hear the Word and live by it. Many noble people believed in the church at Berea because they searched the scripture as willing hearers every day (See Acts 17:10-12).
3. An effective dialogue or communication: Faith comes by hearing. How the Word is communicated is as important as the Word itself.
It’s important to sit at the feet of an effective faith preacher if you can receive faith and live by it.
Today’s Prayer
Father, please give me an attitude that honours and treasures your Word as the source of my very life, give me a willing heart to obey you gladly and let your Spirit build up faith in me as I sit under Your Word all the days of my life, in Jesus’ name!
