“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” (Acts 20:32 KJV)
The church is not a clinic for sinners as we have been told, nor is it a museum for saints as we have turned it; the church can be compared to a fitness centre.
The church is a place where the Lord builds us up to withstand the attacks of the gates of hell. The purpose of God is to build His church so that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. We know that many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers us from them all.
Joining a church is like signing up to a fitness centre. I must emphasize that the church is a fitness centre for all who sign up. People don’t just sign up to a fitness centre merely for the fun of it. After they sign up, they would keep coming if they find out that what goes on in there is relevant to the results they seek.
In any case, different people show up at the door of the church on Sunday morning for various reasons other than why they should show up. Some come to meet and connect with potential business partners, others come to meet potential suitors, many more come to satisfy some religious obligation; but we must come to be built up into a spiritual house.
I don’t encourage people to use the church as a meeting place nor as a clinic to find healing, it is not a recreational centre either. You must attend a church as a member of a fitness centre. You must strive to keep spiritually fit as a lifestyle.
The simple steps to keep fit as a lifestyle and be delivered from the things that hurt and drown others are listed below;
1. Sign up to the appropriate centre:
Your life will be a mess if you sign up to the wrong centre. God has a place for you and the HighCity might be a choice. Different people have different needs so it is important to choose a specific program and the products that build you up. Aside from the general meetings, discover the specific programs that suit your needs. The HighCity church is a one-stop-shop that ministers and equips the total man for exploits.
2. Know the visions and values of the centre:
You make the maximum from the centre when you know and honour its vision and values. Our vision and values are to build a people that are built up to withstand every challenge that hell may throw at us. This is the Christ vision for the church. Our core values are righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
3. Attend the sessions as appointed:
You must endeavour to attend the meetings as scheduled. Hebrews 12 teaches that when you come to church, you have come to the mountain of the Lord, to Zion where there shall be healing, deliverance, and the possessing of possessions. (Obadiah 1:17) There is a promise just for coming. (Hebrews 11:6)
4. For extra benefits, work out at the centre:
When you come to church, join the work out sessions. You build muscle, burn fat, and keep fit by joining the aerobics and workouts. Join the singing, prayer, and hearing. You must do what we do. Join in the motion; the spiritual dynamics.
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. (Philippians 2:12-16 KJV)
5. For maximum benefit, obey when you go home.
Obey in my presence and obey in my presence. That is how you get the benefits. Don’t go home and throw away precaution. As you go home follow the eating and exercise regime we recommend. You can not work out in church and then go home and return to junk food.
This is how you maintain the healing, deliverance, and the things you possess. You don’t build fitness in one day. You must keep it as a lifestyle. The apostle commended the church to God and the word of His Grace.
