Following the Faith of the Elders

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises”.

Apart from the Law, the Prophets, the Psalms and epistles, the Bible is filled with the stories of men and women who trusted in the fact that God is real and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. These were people who took God at His word and pressed on with Him until they inherited the promises. These are the elders whose faith I exhort you to follow.

These are men and women who had no doubt that God exists and they walked with Him. You will make it if you follow their faith. These are people who walked with the all-powerful, everywhere-present and all-knowing God (See Hebrews 11:6)

I am exhorting you to follow their faith because;

We can also obtain a good report as they did:

They lived their lives knowing that they have no other God and that God has done for them what no man can do. There is nobody like Jehovah. He is too powerful. We will follow the faith of the elders becuase we are persuaded that there is no God like their God.

We are persuaded of better things that accompany salvation:

That is why we are encouraging you to follow the faith and patience of the elders. There are better things that accompany salvation which we must walk into.

We know that God is righteous:

We know the God you are trusting is not unfaithful to forget your labour of love, which you have shown towards His name; by simply ministering to the saints, as you still do.

We are assured that as we follow the faith and patience of the fathers, we shall also inherit the promises and obtain a good report as they did (Hebrews 11:2):

I know that we might obtain a good report if we follow their faith and patience. God wants us to experience any of the reports and testimonies we read about in Hebrews 11.

Surely as we follow the faith of the elders, we shall also experience the same blessings and walk in the same grace. May the Lord defend and bless you. You shall not die. The just shall live by faith. Your faith will preserve you life and cause you to advance to greatness.
