[“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.” (John 4:34-38 KJV)
In a dialogue with his disciples (our apostles), our Lord Jesus Christ taught that the first, foremost and most important priority of every child of God must be to gather fruits unto life eternal. We are called with such a calling and a vocation. We are called into a field that is ready to be harvested. We stand in the midst of a ready field; we either harvest now or it rots and we lose it.
What then does it mean to gather fruits unto life eternal?
You must decide to save yourself from eternal retribution
There is a day reserved in the power of God for the perdition of the ungodly. This is the day of the lord when all those who rejected the son of God because they love evil shall be damned with eternal damnation. They will face the wrath of the Lord. We must firstly decide to escape this day by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as our lord and personal saviour. You must beat your body under so that after you have called many to the faith, you do not become a castaway.
You must get involved with saving your family and community from eternal damnation
You are the missionary to your family and friends. In Mark 5:19, our Lord Jesus Christ told the man of Gadara after he was liberated to go and testify to his friends and family. Your family and friends is your first mission field. The church can convert more people when we get involved in winning our friends and family to Christ.
Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
Mark 5:19-20 KJV
You must get involved with building and growing the church
The church is the barn in which we keep and preserve the harvest. Many of the people we win may backslide and slip back to hell, unless we add them to the church and preserve them through discipleship. We are called as lively stones to a living stone to be built into a spiritual house and to offer spiritual sacrifices.
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:4-5 KJV
Please, let us arise and step into the ready harvest. Let us keep it from rot.
