The ministry of Jesus was five-fold: He preached, taught, healed the sick, cast out devils, and He built the church. If you want to be like Jesus in ministry, then preach, teach, heal the sick, cast out devils, and build the church.
How was Jesus able to do this?
- He went into the desert places to pray, fast, and prepare.
- He separated Himself from fleshy, carnal, and worldly sensual craving. He warned us of things that can stop us from bearing fruits: lack of understanding, lack of moisture (hence lack of depth), the lust of the eyes and flesh, anxiety and cares, pride and the deceitfulness of riches, lack of patience and honesty (the love of the truth).
- He was focused on His calling and purpose. He did not allow anything to distract Him. We are failing because we are distracted by many things in the environment.
- He sought the approval of the Father alone. He did not seek the praise of men because He knew what was in the heart of a man.
- He called and ordained some that they will stay with Him, that He might send them. Raise a generation after you who can do what you do, but don’t force anyone to follow you. When Judas left, the Lord did not pursue him.
Why should you strive to be like Him?
- That is the only way we can excel in ministry. He said as the Father has sent me, so have I sent you.
- That is His goal, that we may grow into Him. (Ephesians 4:10-16)
- Two cannot walk together unless they are compatible. He cannot use you if you don’t want to be like Him.
- You will be rejected on the Last Day if you do it any different way. He will say “Go away from me, you who worked unrighteousness…”
Bless you
