How can you excel as a teacher?
[2 Timothy 2:14-18 KJV]“Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.”
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness”.
“And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenæus and Philetus; who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.”
I want to exhort you to be a good teacher. Indeed, every one of us is a teacher and we are all, at one point or the other, teaching something to someone; knowingly or unknowingly.
There is a need to strive to excel at teaching. If you want to excel as teaching, pay attention to these truths;
- Repeat the essentials again and again to your hearers.
- Charge your students not to strive about words; It chips away their faith and wears everyone out.
- Concentrate on doing your best for God by laying out the truth plainly and simply.
- Stay clear of pointless talk that has no works; remember that words are not mere words; in the matters of faith, they can poison the souls of God’s people and overthrow the faith of some.
Let us read these instructions in The Message Bible;
[2 Timothy 2:14-18 MSG] “Repeat these basic essentials over and over to God’s people. Warn them before God against pious nitpicking, which chips away at the faith. It just wears everyone out. Concentrate on doing your best for God, work you won’t be ashamed of, laying out the truth plain and simple.”
“Stay clear of pious talk that is only talk. Words are not mere words, you know. If they’re not backed by a godly life, they accumulate as poison in the soul. Hymenaeus and Philetus are examples, throwing believers off stride and missing the truth by a mile by saying the resurrection is over and done with.”
These are the simple tips to excel at teaching. You don’t need to do more than these tips. I pray that you see a quantum leap in your skills and grace to teach.
Bless you
