[Daniel 10:1-6 KJV] “In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.”
“I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;”
“then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: his body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.“
Besides fasting and praying in Daniel 9, the prophet Daniel, also mourned for three full weeks as a result of a revelation. It is obvious that Daniel’s fast was always a supernatural fast. He fasted because something stirred him to fast and pray.
In Daniel 9, he fasted because he read and understood by the books that the captivity of Israel was to last for 70 years. He was moved by the revelation to seek the results. He wanted to walk in what he had read from the prophecy of Jeremiah. He was stirred to fast and pray by a revelation, he caught in a book.
In Daniel 10, he was moved to fast and pray because of a revelation that was brought to him. Something was revealed to him, and he decided to mourn for three full weeks.
If you want to successfully fast and pray for three full weeks:
- Set clear objectives
- Determine when and how long you want to fast and pray
- Schedule times to abstain from food and pleasure, to pray, to read, to sing and worship, to listen by faith, to bath and anoint yourself, to lose the bands of wickedness, to sleep, when to bath and anoint yourself with ointment! Build faith to recieve what you are seeking through listening
- Endure temptations and end the fast wisely.
Have clear objectives and motivation
Set up objectives for fasting. There are so many reasons why people fast and that is important to state. We at the Highcity are praying this 21 days for forgiveness, renewal, direction, and empowerment.
Determine when and how long
Determine how long and what time you are fasting. There must be a clear commitment to fast and pray. We are fasting and praying for 21 days.
Schedule when you will pray, read, worship, and listen
Preferably, start and end your day with prayer if it is a corporate fast. This is because we have different schedules, so sunrise and sun set prayers will help all the 8-5 white and blue collar workers.
Schedule when you will be praying and/or reading the Bible. We have created four prophetic windows to make impact. We will be praying during the morning window between 3am-6am, then at noon (12 noon), then in the evening window (3-6pm), and the across night window (12 midnight)
Schedule when to bath and anoint yourself with ointment
“Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.” (Matthew 6:16-18 KJV)
Schedule when to listen to build faith to recieve. Build your faith and expect results. The Bible in Mark 11:23-25, teaches that if we believe and pray, we can recieve whatever we asked for.
Endure and end the fast wisely
End the fast gradually. If you break at 6pm, starting drinking water at 3pm. If you embark on a weeks fast, start drinking water only on the 6th day, then fluids from the morning of the 7th day.
Stay blessed
