Today, we are sharing on how to respond to fear, trauma and fright in life, so let’s jump right in;
[Matthew 14:25-32 KJV] “And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying,”
“It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”
“And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.”
“And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.“
Fright is a sudden intense feeling of fear; usually excited by danger. Listen! How you respond to fright is crucial. Your response can make or break you. I must say that there are three natural reactions to fear and trauma:
- To freeze
- To flight
- To fight
When calamity, trauma or fear begins to loom, its important to remember that;
- Fear is a spirit projected by darkness to make you timid and intimidated. The purpose of the devil in all fearful situations is to make you freeze and shrink.
- Fear is a spirit projected by darkness to make you doubt the word of God; As Peter started to walk to Jesus on the water, he began to sink because he doubted.
- Fear is a spirt that must be fought and faced with spiritual weapons like love, soundness of mind, power, and faith.
- Fear is a spirit, hence when your heart is overwhelmed, it’s okay to take flight; but run to safery and to the rock that is higher than you. Peter run to the rock that is higher.
- Fear is a spirit, no matter how afraid you are have faith in God and His word to you.
