[2 Timothy 3:1-5 KJV] “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, [3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, [4] Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; [5] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away”.
I want to exhort you on surviving the last days; the word of God teaches us that the last days shall be very dangerous days. The very nature of the people and the days makes it dangerous. Those perilous times have come already, we are living in very dangerous times and men are growing worse; I pray that you will grow wiser and not fall prey to the wickedness and evil around you.
There is so much wickedness and we must walk with wisdom to survive the days. Apostle Paul advised Timothy on how he can survive the last days. He exhorted him to walk with wisdom: to select his friends wisely, to know that those who oppose the truth don’t go far, to have a mentor whose manner of life he knows, and to know the scriptures for himself. So, any of us can survive the last days when we can do the following;
1. Select your friends carefully:
“Evil communication corrupts good manners;” you must, therefore, be careful who you keep communication lines with. You must learn to stay away from people who have any of the traits described above. It is better to be alone than among fake friends. There is a dangerous era brewing now and we must beware.
2. Remember that those who oppose the truth don’t go far:
If Jannes and Jambres did not proceed any further, those who oppose the truth won’t get far. Rebellion will only expose your folly and pride. The Bible tells us that just as Jannes and Jambres did not go far when they opposed Moses, those who rebel against God’s blueprint for living will not go far. Listen! May the Lord help you to yield to authority and to His leading.
3. Choose a mentor you have known closely:
Chose your mentor and formator wisely. Timothy knew Apostle Paul and knew him so well. You must not just choose any man as your mentor. You must have a man whose ways, manner of life, philosophy, and doctrine you know. You must not follow a stranger, you must follow the voice of the shepherd. I pray that you will find your fold and bowl.
4. Know the Scriptures for yourself:
Knowing the scriptures will make you wise unto salvation. You must know the scriptures from childhood because it will make you wise unto salvation. “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15 KJV)
I pray that nothing shall sweep you off your feet. You will survive the last days and escape the pitfalls of darkness. None of the things that hurt in these last days shall have power over you. May the Lord empower you to escape the pitfalls and drama!
Be blessed, I love you
