If it will take God, then it will take prayer! One of the major sources of conflict, fightings, and lack in churches, nations, and families is prayerlessness!
[James 4:1-3] “From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts”.
The simple truth remains that whatever will take God to do will take prayer and faith. The Bible says we desire, we lust, kill, fight, and war, and yet we lack because it takes prayer; and even when we pray, many of us ask amiss to consume it upon our lust. This portion of the Scriptures teaches us some of the things people do or try to do to you when they want what you have. They;
- Lust
- Desire
- Try to kill you or things around you; like your honour, reputation, dignity etc
- Fight you and even
- War against you
That is why you must wake up praying, sleep praying, eat prayer, drink prayer; pray without ceasing. Listen, you cannot play games with your prayer life. There are people in this community, your workplace, your family, this church, and even among your friends who have deep lust and desire for what you have. They wish, lust and desire that they have what you have. They are trying to kill you and your dignity; they have been fighting and warring against you; my dear wake up!
Remember praying amiss or praying useless prayers is as dangerous as not praying at all. Ghana is praying but many Christians are poor because many of us are praying useless prayers. Remember that not hearing right leads to faulty thinking and faulty communication. You must understand that God is not a million miles away. Rather, He is in and with us to help us according to His power that is at work in us; ready to do far above all that we can ask or even think (See Ephesians 3:20).
To avoid praying amiss, you must;
Hear by the word and by the hearing of faith:
As you hear by the word and by faith, your thinking and understanding get shaped. And even beyond that, we receive the ministering of the Spirit by which we gain utterance.
Give attendance to reading, exhortation, and doctrine:
This is so that you may grow in grace and knowledge: (See 1 Timothy 4:13)
Depend on the Holy Spirit for utterance:
Romans 8:26 teaches us that the Holy Spirit helps our infirmities by praying with groaning that cannot be uttered with words. See Acts 2 verse 1 downwards.
Refuse to conform to the pattern of the world:
[James 4:4] “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble”. (See also Romans 12:1-3)
Humble yourself to God and resist the devil:
And he will flee from you. [James 4:7-10] “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up”.
Speak no evil of any man:
James 4:11-12 teaches us not to speak evil of any man. “Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?” Luke 18:10-14 teaches about how a Pharisee went back home carrying his burden because he justified himself and spoke evil of a publican.
If you hear His voice today, obey quickly:
[James 4:13-17] “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin”.
If it will take God, it will take prayer. Anna prayed for over 70 years; Paul and Silas prayed and praised for a breakthrough; Jesus Christ spent hours in Gethesame and God showed up to help Him.
Stay blessed; I love you!
