We want to explore the ancient secrets to power and wisdom. One of these secrets is the fear of the Lord. The angel of the Lord encamps about them that fear Him. The ancient secret to power is to fear the Lord.
[Psalms 34:7 KJV] “The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them”.

[2 Chronicles 14:1-7 KJV]
“So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
[2] And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God:
[3] For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:
[4] And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
[5] Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.
[6] And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest.
[7] Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered”.
Discussion
The Bible tells us about Asa who did right and good in the sight of the Lord. Like Asa, how can we also do good and right in the eyes of Lord?;
1. Break down all personal altar of strange gods:
Asa was able to do good and right in the eyes of the Lord because he took away the altars of strange gods and cut down their grooves from his own life. Until we take down all the idols we have made, we cannot do good and right in the eyes. We must dethrone the idols we have set up. We live in a generation that idolize sex, money, beauty, talents and gifts, success, cars, mansions; we cannot do right in the eyes of the Lord until we pull down altars of the gods of sex, pleasure, food, alcohol, money, cars, fashion, success and talent. As long as we idolize these things, we cannot serve God. Love not the world nor any thing in it, because the world and everything in it is passing away. No man can serve two masters; if you can make it, then you must cast off the things that easily sidetrack you.
2. Command the people after God:
Many of your followers don’t know what to do, you must instruct them if you want them to walk in the way. He commanded all the people under his control and influence to seek the Lord. He commanded his children and subjects to seek the Lord. We must be willing to influence people under our control to seek the Lord.
3. Create a safe environment:
He removed from around him things that could trap him. He sanitized his environment. We must pull down altars of strange gods from all environments we have control over. You may not have the authority to determine what happens in your office but you can determine what happens on you desk. A leader can lead a nation to do what is right when he or she sanitizes the systems and structures.
4. Erect altars of prayer where men can seek God:
He sought the Lord to give him rest. We must now build altars of prayer. We must seek the Lord for peace and rest. Leaders can do good and right in the sight of God when they are given to prayer.
5. Build strong communities of people:
Asa built strong cities, we must also build strong communities if we want to please God. We must build stronger communities of believers, friends, and fellowships. The stronger we stick together the likely we are to do that which pleases the Lord. Leaders can do what is good and right in the sight of God when they build strong institutions.
