[Mark 5:18-20 KJV] “And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.”
Many years ago, the Lord had mercy on a young man that had demons. He set him free from the oppression of demons and released him to go home to his friends, to share with them what great things the Lord had done for him and the great mercy and compassion he had had on him.
As a matter of truth, the man left and published the good news in the Decapolis. The man did a little more than the lord wanted him to do. Instead of just speaking to a few friends, he went and published the news in all of the region. I believe we can also do better. We can also step out and publish our faith and testimony in our region.
Why should we do a little more? We should do a little more because:
1. A day is coming when no man can work even if you want to (See John 9:4):
This is so real; there is always a time when you can do so much and do certain things, but other times come when a man can do nothing even if he wants to. We can do nothing when death seizes upon us.
2. The reward of hard and faithful work is more work (See Matthew 13:12):
The harder you work, the more work there is to be done. As you are faithful with little, God begins to trust you with much. So we must be willing to do more as we faithfully handle little.
3. The harvest is plenteous but the labourers are few (See Luke 10:1-4):
Indeed we are standing in the midst of massive harvest. We must step out and save it from decaying. Lift up your eyes and see, the harvest is ripe and the labourers are few. We must, therefore, be faithful with the harvest and see more results.
4. Only those who do a little more get mentioned in the hall of fame (See 2 Samuel 23 verses 7 downwards):
Only those who are willing and ready to do a little more gets results. You cannot be like everyone and still outshine and be an example. You must be willing to do more to get extraordinary results.
5. There is no work nor device nor wisdom in the grave (See Ecclesiastes 9:10):
Thank God for his word. We are all making a journey that temporarily stops at the grave. In the grave there is no work nor device. In the grave there is no knowledge. Let us try and finish what we have to do. Let us strive to do more because life is brief and the grave has no opportunities.
6. To whom much is given, much is expected (See Luke 12:48) but Only a few are faithful (See also 1 Corinthians 4:17):
Only a few are faithful; we cannot leave things to chance. We must not leave things to chance. Much has been given to us and much is expected of us. Let us determine to do just a little more, and we will achieve more.
Stay blessed, I love you!
