[Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV] “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory“
We want to learn how to maintain the seal of the Holy Spirit on our lives. The Bible teaches that we were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise as the father has promised. This is the first work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. He is the seal on our lives that keeps us from harm! 3 simple ways to maintain the seal of the Holy Ghost are :
1. Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit
“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption”. (Ephesians 4:30 KJV)
Pray that your thoughts and actions will not grieve the Holy Spirit! You must be a source of delight and joy for the Spirit of God.
2. Acknowledge His presence and maintain fellowship with Him daily
You must acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit and maintain fellowship with Him. He wants to fellowship with you, He wants to speak with you; open up and recieve his communion! Let the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you if you can maintain the seal on your life.
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. The second epistle to the Corinthians was written from Philippi, a city of Macedonia, by Titus and Lucas.” (2 Corinthians 13:14 KJV)
3. Bear the fruit of the Spirit
The Bible teaches that the spirit wars against the flesh and the flesh against the spirit and their desires are contrary. The most important key is to lend your support to the Spirit rather than to the flesh! Your must yield your members as instruments of righteousness to the Holy Spirit to maintain the seal. When you walk in the lust of the flesh, you weaken the bound of the Spirit.
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.“
“But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Galatians 5:16-26 KJV)
These are three of the many things that strengthen the seal of the Holy Spirit on your life. I pray that this seal shall remain untill the day of redemption.
Stay blessed!
