I want to exhort you today to learn to be a way maker for your children as a mother.
[Ruth 3:1-6 KJV] “Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? [2] And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.”
[3] “Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking. [4] And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.”
[5] “And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do. [6] And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.”
In the Bible, the following women were way makers for their children;
- Naomi
- Hannah
- Rebecca
- Bathsheba
- The mother of James and John — the sons of Zebedee
In Ruth 3:1-3, we learn that Naomi, through her wise counsel, became a way maker for Ruth. She sought good for Ruth and Ruth became a wife to Boaz. One way your mother can make a way for you is through her wise counsel. You must be submitted enough to qualify for this.
Hannah, through her prayers, her vow and financial support, became a way maker for her son, Samuel, to become a foremost prophet in Israel. Mothers must guide their children through prayer and financial support.
Through her counsel and skill, Rebecca support guided Jacob to inherit a blessing from Isaac. Without the council and the help of Rebecca, Jacob would not have inherited the blessing due him.
We can also mention Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon, who spoke to the prophet to speak to the ailing King David about his promise to make Solomon his heir to the throne.
The mother of the sons of Zebedee also spoke to Jesus Christ on the behalf of her sons. You must learn to be a way maker for your children. May the Lord endow you with this wisdom and skill, Amen!
