“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” – Luke 10:19 (KJV)
Many years ago the Lord sent 70 disciples out on missions. He gave them power to heal the sick and cast out devils; and they returned with the testimony that even demons were subject to them. The same covenant experience awaits any one who would wait on God for power, step out in faith, and deare the word.
The most interesting twist however is in the truth that the seventy returned with excitement. Demons fled. Darkness bowed. Victory was visible, but Jesus redirected their focus. Power is good.
Authority is real. Victory is certain, yet the greatest miracle is not what falls beneath your feet, it is where your name is written. Jesus declared, “I give you power.” That means authority is not earned, it is given. You do not fight for victory; you walk in it.
Note that;
- Serpents represent hidden dangers.
- Scorpions represent sudden attacks.
- The enemy represents organized opposition.
But Christ has already declared the outcome. You may face resistance, but you are not overpowered. You may encounter attacks, but you are not unprotected.
You may walk through battles, but you are not alone. And here is the anchor: your security is not in your experiences, it is in your identity. Your name is written in heaven. Rejoice not merely because battles bow, rejoice because you belong. Nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the authority You have given me. Help me to walk boldly, yet humbly. Guard my heart from fear and pride. Remind me that my greatest victory is that my name is written in heaven. I stand in Your power and rest in Your promise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
