I want to exhort you on how to overcome delays and distractions. We are making a journey with Jesus to the promise. We are travelling, not just to a land flowing with milk and honey, but to the city of God. We are travelling to a city whose builder and designer is God. We are making a journey to wealth, health and worth. All of us have big dreams and aspirations and we must get there. We want to win together, people rise together when they strive together.
There is, however, an enemy out there who is trying to keep us from reaching our life’s goals. There is something in the air that is trying to slow us down. There is an enemy out there who is trying to rob us of the great dreams and virtues we have. How then can we overcome delays and distractions?
1. Read and focus on the writings on the wall:
The vision and the path are already written on the wall. We have been told to get a vision; I think that is wrong, we have to discover His will. We just have to discover the mystery of His perfect will for our lives. The Bible teaches us by the prophet Habakkuk that the vision is written plainly on the tables, you must find your table and read what is written on it. There is a will of God for every one of us and that is what we must all find and pursue.
[Habakkuk 2:1-3 KJV] “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. [2] And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. [3] For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry”.
We must unveil and read what is written. Jesus said, “I come in the volume of the books to do thy will.” For instance, you are not the person to determine which man you want to marry or how you want to marry, the book has already given the criteria for your marriage. The book says “do not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever;” what you think does not matter; the book must be read and observed. The book has defined roles in the home and in marriage; what you think of them is irrelevant, the book must be read and obeyed.
Until, you decide to offer yourself as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto the Lord; until you decided not to conform to the patterns of the world but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind; you will never know nor be able to accept the perfect will of God for your life.
2. Lay aside every weight and sin that does easily beset you:
The secret to being on time and on point is to cut the clusters and keep life simple. I have been dealing with people and I realise that those who make it big and fast keep life simple. You cannot carry the whole world and still expect to win the day. You must be willing to shed excess weight and besetting sins.
[Hebrews 12:1-4 KJV] “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin”.
There are friendships and associations that you must let go. There may be habits you must let go, there may be people you must let go, there may be things you may have to give up. We must cast off weight and sin to reach our goals faster. You cant live like everyone and expect different results.
3. Run the race set before you with patience, fixing your gaze on Christ:
The race is already set before you. You are not to choose a race, your race is already set before you. You must just decide to run and run it with patience. Your gaze must be fixed on Christ. You must focus on “the author and finisher of our faith”. You will be discouraged if you don’t fix your gaze on Christ.
I prophesy to you that you shall not suffer any more delays and distractions. The Lord will see us through and take us far. May you never fall by the way, or be drowned by time wasters! You shall run and win over time wasters and delays.
Be blessed, I love you
