I like to talk to you today about overcoming weariness. To be weary is to feel fatigued and exhausted and tired. To be weary to feel like giving up after an intense battle.
Text
[2 Thessalonians 3:13 KJV] “But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing”.
Discussion
Sometimes, what we are fighting has lingered on for far too long and we have even lost hope. And we wonder whether we will ever make it. Indeed, the battle seems turbulent and the enemy so formidable, but do not be overwhelmed; rather trust that you are coming out.
I have no idea what could be wearying you out but I know there is hope. Is it ministry, marriage, or a medical report? You can overcome and you can come out. There are times when you are just fatigued in well doing, but don’t be. There is a reward, so press along a little stronger and harder.
Weariness is one major satanic and devilish strategy to win the battle. When the enemy realizes that he cannot win the battle at once, he resorts to wearying you out. I pray that you will be able to overcome every weariness of soul. You will not be fatigued. You will be refreshed and strengthened in the name of Jesus Christ.
Here are certain practical hints to overcome weariness. You will come out and come out strong. When you feel overwhelmed,
1. Surround yourself with people who have the tongue of the learned:
We all get weary sometimes and we need someone who can speak a word in season to the weary. There are times when you just need someone to urge you to stop or to urge you to go on.
[Isaiah 50:4 KJV] “The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned”.
2. Speak positively:
At all times we should be careful what we say and how we say it. In moments of weariness, speak of strength and prepare for war. Most often than not we speak of weakness when we are weak, but we ought to speak of strength, when we are weary.
[Joel 3:9-10 KJV] “Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: [10] Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong”.
It is not enough to speak positively, rather, while you speak positively, you must begin to prepare your tools to act. The prophet called on the people to beat their plowshares into swords.
3. Wait upon the Lord:
When your soul is overwhelmed, run to the rock that is higher than you. Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength and mount up with wings as eagles. God gives power to the faint, hence the need to wait on Him.
[Isaiah 40:29-31 KJV] “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. [30] Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: [31] But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.
4. Look unto Jesus Christ:
The scriptures admonishes us to look unto Jesus Christ who is the author and finisher of our faith. We must consider him that endured the contradiction of sinners.
[Hebrews 12:3 KJV] “For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds”.
I pray that you will overcome weariness and you will walk refreshed. God is with you and you shall win.
Stay blessed; I love you!
