The Bible tells us that through the eternal Spirit, Jesus Christ has offered Himself without spot to God, and has purged our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
[Hebrews 9:14 KJV] “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
We are purged to serve; purged to serve the living God. Jesus Christ offered Himself through the eternal Spirit without spot to purge our conscience from dead works. He has purged our conscience by His blood.
What then does it mean to serve the living God?
Faith
In John 6:28-29, we learn that the work of God is to believe on Him whom the Father has sent. The work of God is to believe on the Lord Jesus and also those who He has sent to you. That is the work of God! These are the words of Jesus Christ.
Worship
In Luke 2:36, Acts 13:1-5, Ezekiel 22:30, Isaiah 62:6-7; it is clear that worship is service to God.
[Luke 2:36 KJV] “And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;”
[Acts 13:1-3 KJV] “Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. [2] As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. [3] And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away”.
[Ezekiel 22:30 KJV] “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”
[Isaiah 62:6-7 KJV] “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord , keep not silence, [7] And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth”.
Serving God includes the dimension of worship and prayer and fasting. You cannot claim to be serving God, when you are not serving in prayer and fasting and worship. This is the second dimension of serving God. There are five dimensions.
Preach the Gospel
The third dimension in serving God is to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, baptise converts into the church, and teach the church. Matthew 28:18-20 exhorts us to go into all the world and preach the gospel, baptize converts into the church, and teach the church.
[Matthew 28:18-20 KJV] “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Reach Out
The fourth dimension to serving God is to reach out to the fatherless, widows, and the forgotten with help. James 1 teaches us what pure religion that is undefiled looks like.
[James 1:27 KJV] “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world”.
Come Before the Lord with Singing
The fifth dimension to serving God is to come into the presence of the Lord with singing for any appointed meeting. Psalm 100 teaches us to come before the Lord with singing, and into His courts with praise.
[Psalm 100:1-5 KJV] “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord , all ye lands. [2] Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. [3] Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. [4] Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. [5] For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
I pray for you that this 2019, you will serve the Lord, as your conscience has been purged to do. Your conscience has been purged and you can serve the Lord now. Be blessed.
I love you;
