In a race, all the competitors run, but only one is crowned or receives the prize.
[1 Corinthians 9:24-27 KJV]
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. [25] And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. [26] I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: [27] But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
It is important to understand that we are in a race against time, and for scarce resources. We must therefore run in such a way that we will receive the crown. We must run for mastery. We must run to win.
Let us;
Challenge ourselves daily to run lawfully:
2 Timothy teaches that those who strive for mastery must strive lawfully. We must challenge ourselves to do better daily. We must all strive to achieve more every day and to run lawfully.
Unleash the deposit of power in us:
There is power resident in every man, this is the treasure of the glory of God. This is an indwelling power that when released, can propel you to greater heights. An airplane does not take flight because of any external force; the airplane takes flight because of the power generated by the engines in the wings. The power that causes men to take flight works from within.
Cast off weight and sin that easily beset us:
In Hebrews 12:1-2, we are admonished to cast off every weight and sin that easily besets us that we may run with patience the race that is set before us. Many of God’s precious children are unable to mount up with wings as eagles because they are carrying useless excess weight. We bear unnecessary burden that must be shed off if we want to soar.
Run with patience the race that is set before:
Now you must run with patience the race that is set before you. Run patiently! Run with patience!! God is looking for marathoners, and not sprinters. It is a long journey, run!
All men are running, each is running for a crown. Run so you may win!
Be blessed, I love you!
