Save yourself, because sometimes, it is so easy to get caught in the euphoria of living and life. We all get swayed by the seeming successes we seem to have. Sometimes we get distracted by what we see our contemporaries seem to have gained and we get enticed. Many of us seem to have been enticed and distraught to run after the world and the things in it, but I believe it is time to pause and answer this question.
You must save yourself, because “what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?” Is there anything in this life that is as valuable as the soul of a man? Honestly, no! Nothing! Not even life itself.
It is time to wake up to understand that there is nothing that a man can give in exchange for his soul. After all, is said and done; what matters is your soul. Is your soul saved? Where will you spend eternity? Are you sure of what will happen to your soul when you die?
[Mark 8:34-38KJV] “And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.”
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
“Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”
The truth is, when a man dies, the spirit returns to God and the body returns to dust; but his soul remains will go to hell or to the one you trusted to keep it for you. Man is tripartite; you are a living soul that lives in a body and has a spirit. I believe the soul is sandwiched between the spirit on the inside and the body on the outside.
The Bible tells us that when God created man from dust; He breathed into him the breath of life and man became a living soul. That is what we became. We are souls that have a spirit and live in a body. When you get born again, it is the spirit man that gets born again; the soul is saved and the body must be quickened by the Lord.
The truth is, everything is coming to a close and we must all do what we can to “save ourselves from this untoward generation”. We live in very dangerous times and the people are very unpredictable, crooked, perverse, unteachable, and out of control. You must save yourself. You must “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
What then can we do to save ourselves from this untoward generation?
On the Day of Pentecost, when the Holy Ghost was poured upon all flesh; the disciples spoke in tongues, and “it was noised abroad throughout Jerusalem.” The Bible teaches that when the devout men gathered and enquired to understand what had happened, Peter stood up and expounded what had happened to them. He preached the gospel to them:
[Acts 2:37-40 KJV] “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
“And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.”
When they ask, “what shall we do?” Apostle Peter began to teach them what to do. He gave them four steps and I will give you those same steps:
- Believe
- Repent
- Be Baptized
- Receive the Holy Ghost
These are the four simple steps to salvation; to believe, repent, be baptized, and receive the Holy Ghost. If you miss any of these four steps, you will not be able to live an effective Christain life.
Stay blessed, I love you
