Proverbs 20:18 KJV – “Every purpose is established by counsel: And with good advice make war.“
The scriptures teach clearly that every purpose; good, bad, ugly and mean will be established by counsel. It is important therefore to seek good counsel.
When Ammon fell in love with Tamar, it’s the counsel of his subtle friend that empowered him to carry out his diabolic agenda. It is a blessing to be surrounded by good counsel; it will withdraw you from every evil plot.
Blessed is the man, we know does not sit in the seat of the scornful; lest he walks in the counsel of the ungodly. As you walk through this day, beware whose counsel you heed. King Rehoboam lost ten tribes because he heeded the counsel of the young men. Before, he became king, the people petitioned him to reduce their burdens and he ignored the counsel of the elders.
2 Chronicles 10:8-11 KJV – [8] But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men that were brought up with him, that stood before him. [9] And he said unto them, What advice give ye that we may return answer to this people, which have spoken to me, saying, Ease somewhat the yoke that thy father did put upon us?
[10] And the young men that were brought up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answer the people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it somewhat lighter for us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins. [11] For whereas my father put a heavy yoke upon you, I will put more to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
Who are you listening to? Whose counsel is making so much sense to you now? Beware! Many have succeeded at evil because they paid attention to the counsel of babies; but do not go to war, except by wise counsel.
Stay blessed
