Isaiah 55:6-7 KJV — Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: [7] let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
The Bible teaches us to seek the Lord while He may be found; this suggests that there are times when God is near but at other times not so accessible. This is not because He may be far but because we may have grown apart or detached from truth. We need God and we need Him every hour; hence the need to grow close to Him.
The three simple steps to seek the Lord while He may be found are:
Call upon Him
Pray as though it all depends on prayer. Call upon Him. We have the spirit that cries Abba! father! Let us get ready to enter into prayer and seek His face.
Forsake our wicked ways and unrighteous thoughts
Every man is defined by his thoughts and pays allegiance to his way. You are the servants of who you serve and what you do. Some serve God, others serve sin, some serve the flesh, and some serve the devil. If we are really serious about serving God, then we must be willing to forsake our wicked ways and forsake our unhealthy thoughts.
Let us return to God:
Remember from where we have fallen and begin to do the first works. Let us return to our first love. Let us go back to where we missed the way. Let God see us again. He will meet us wherever we are and have mercy on us. When the prodigal son returned home; his father received him. Let us return and receive mercy.
This is the time and now is the season. We are called to receive mercy and forgiveness. Let us seek the Lord while He may be found.
