We are lively stones being built up into a spiritual house; we are a holy priesthood; called to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Christ Jesus; we were not a people, but we have obtained mercy to show forth the praises of God.
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:4-5 KJV)
Every one of us is born into the kingdom of God with the potential to serve God and be blessed by Him. Everyone one of us has the grace and ability to serve in the house of the Lord. We can be used of God but we must first of all complete the four-stage process of salvation.
1 Peter 1:18- 2:4 teaches and expounds on the four-stage process of salvation: Redemption, sanctification, being born again, and maturity.
- Redemption
The Bible teaches that we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on Calvary. The blood is the redemptive agent. When the agent of death and destruction sees the blood he passes. The blood is efficacious. The blood has redeemed those of us who believe in the son of God.
- Sanctification
The second thing is that we have purified our souls, we have been sanctified by obeying the truth by the Spirit. We have been sanctified through obedience. We are cleaned as we obey the truth. From today you will obey the truth and have your soul purified.
- Born Again
We are still being born again by the Word of God which we preach by the gospel. The Word of God transforms. The Word of God renews and rejuvenates. The Word of God revives and raises us. Through discipleship, we are changed and transformed. The Word of God is quick and powerful.
- Maturity
Finally, it is not enough to be renewed, you must grow and mature for effective functioning. There is no difference between a child and a slave. The child may be an heir of all things but as long as he remains a child, he is not different from a slave. We must follow so that we might grow.
Don’t write yourself off; you are a child of God, capable of doing all things as Christ would. You can be used by God. You can also serve in ministry, missions, and revivals. You can become a special servant of God if you continue to serve. Arise and believe for the redemption, obey the truth by the Spirit, listen to the Word of God by the hearing of faith, and desire the sincere milk that you may grow thereby.
I love you; stay blessed.
