“And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive. And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive? And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.” (Exodus 1:15-21 KJV)
According the promise of God, Israel soujourned in Egypt for 430 years; and at a point they began to wax mighty and strong. But after the death of Joseph, there arose another pharoah who knew nothing about Joseph and he began to incite people to deal wisely and treacherous with the Hebrews.
This pharoah told the midwives to kill all male children who are born to the Hebrews; but the midwives feared God and served God’s purpose. As a result, the Lord build the midwives houses.
Matthew 6:30-33 teaches that God knows all the things we need for life and godliness. Every man needs food, drink, clothes, and shelter; as we serve the Lord, He will provide for us these things as He did for the Hebrew midwives.
Because the midwives feared God and served His purpose, God dealt well with them. I know that when we serve the purpose of God, He will build us houses. He provides for His work. God’s work done God’s way will never lack.
God blessed these women because they risked everything to serve the purpose of God. They risked everything to do the will of God. May the Lord raise more of such people in our nation! May we serve the purpose of God, no matter what! May the Lord help us to press on in the right direction!
Stay blessed; I love you!
