If you want to push beyond the shattered pieces, then meditate on the story of a black girl who was discriminated against by her peers because of her skin tone in the Songs of Solomon. The word of God, by her story, teaches great lessons we can take home. Let us learn how she overcame what could have been a set back in life.
[Song of Solomon 1:5-6 KJV] “I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.”
She focussed on the positives; you must focus on your strengths.
Listen, what you focus on seems to get magnified. When you focus on the storm it seems to magnify and your faith diminishes. You can push beyond the odds when you focus on the positives and the strengths.
The Shunammite focuses on the truth that she was beautiful though she was black. She did not allow her different skin tone to define her. She pushed beyond the shattered pieces by focussing on how beautiful she was despite the dark tone of her skin.
She did not allow anyone to despise or look down upon her because she was black.
Don’t allow the conclusions of the naysayers to define you. Don’t allow what others think to become your reality. Just know who you are, and don’t get beaten down by negative comments that try to insult your person.
Sometimes, what you have been through for others is what left you handicapped. The sun had scorched and burnt her skin. She had skin burns from taking care of the family vineyards.
Just like Noah; he got drunk after the flood, but let us take our time to examine the underlying cause of the drunkenness. Many of the times we are quick to bastardize and roar at people for their moral failure, but we don’t take time to understand the causes.
She admitted that she goofed
Sometimes, admitting that you goofed is an important step toward recieving restoration and healing. Admitting that something went wrong and you goofed helps you to humble yourself and recieve help.
She identified the cause and began to fix it.
Remember to take care of yourself as you take care of others. Sometimes, we are too busy taking care of others, and never pause to fix ourselves. There are times when you need to pause and fix some of your own mess. You can and you must. She teaches that she kept the vine of others and left her own vine unattended.
God bless you
