Sometimes, What You Need is Not an Increase in Faith

There are times when what you need is not increased faith but rather to work on dealing with your doubt.

[Luke 17:1-6 KJV] “Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him , through whom they come! [2] It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. [3] Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. [4] And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. [5] And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. [6] And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you”.

One day, our Lord Jesus taught His disciples a doctrine on forgiveness. At the end of the teaching, they prayed Him that He increase their faith. But the Lord told them that they did not need increased faith. What they needed was rather a doubt-free environment that will make their little faith more effective. Faith needs a conducive atmosphere to make it effective. Without such an atmosphere, faith will not deliver.

Our Lord Jesus teaches that even faith as mustard can uproot a sycamine tree when it is released to act. Faith works, but doubt is a killer. Without faith, it is impossible to please God or do the impossible. Faith is faith, little or big; the real deal is where it is operated or engaged.

I believe with all my heart that in this season, we will engage in activities that help us to dispel doubt and create the enabling atmosphere to make faith work. You should spend precious time listening to things that deal with the doubts in your spirit. You must get to that point in time when you believe and believe and believe that whatever the Lord has said shall be fulfilled and whatever He commands can be obeyed.

May the Lord help our unbelief! May God uproot the roots of doubt! May we have a single heart and not be double-minded! Receive grace to believe and not doubt. Stay blessed.
