Sources of Dreams

I want to exhort you today on the need to never stop dreaming.

[Proverbs 29:18 KJV] “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he”.

We have already learnt that the three simple secrets to moving to the next level is dreaming big, planning intelligently, and pursuing diligently. In trying to understand the sources of dreams and visions, we need to understand what visions and dreams are.

Visions and dreams in this context is a pictorial representation of where God is leading and what we will become by following

When God met Abraham, God showed him what he will become by following Him. In Genesis 12, God told Abraham that if he will step out and following Him, he will be fruitful, multiplied, become great, be blessed, and become a blessing to nations.

When the Lord Jesus Christ met the disciples, He told them one thing; “follow Me and I will make you fishers of men”. They knew what they will become by following Him.

Each of us needs a vision for guidance, focus, and direction. Where there is no vision, the people perish; because they cast off restraint. In a world of multiplicity of dreams and visions, we need focus, direction, and something that will serve as a reference point.

There are certain keys sources of dreams and visions:

The Holy Spirit
The multitude of the business of the day
By observing the ant
By observing fathers

In Joel 2:28‭-‬29, we understand that when the Spirit is poured upon all flesh, young men shall see visions and old men shall dream dreams. “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit”.

The Holy Spirit is the number one source of dreams and visions in this new testament era. Men and women of the Spirit did not lack ideas and direction. I pray that you shall experience the influence of the Holy Spirit in your life and you shall dream dreams.

The second source of visions and dreams is getting involved in multitudes of business. The Bible teaches us in Ecclesiastes 5:3 that a dream or vision or ideas come through the multitude of business. “For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words”. The truth is, the more you get involved in the doing of something, the more likely you are to get new and novel ideas. You become more creative in doing something when you get involved with it.

The third source of dreams and visions and ideas is observing your ant. Observing and copying are master keys to the generation of ideas and seeing visions. In Proverbs 6:6 the king admonishes us to consider the ways of the ant and find our own way. “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:” You are not an ant and can’t be an ant but when you observe the ant, you can generate your own ideas and visions, and dreams.

The fourth source of visions and dreams and ideas is understanding fathers. Many of us were born under certain circumstances that could suggest where the Lord is leading and what we are becoming by following.

I pray that none of us will miss the way and we shall not lose focus. The Lord shall direct and guide our hearts to find the way and to follow it. You have a life to live, a destiny to fulfil, and a God Who will help you!
