Mark 1:35-37 KJV — And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. [36] And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. [37] And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
There is no greater secret to successful and effective living than starting your day with prayer. We will do far better, if we learn to start our day with prayer. That is the way the Master went. He rose early before any day and started His day with prayer. He prayed when the crowd was thin and prayed when the crowd grew thicker. He gave himself fully to prayer and that accelerated and sustained His progress.
When it comes to prayer, it’s important to understand and note four truths;
- Consistency is better than intensity: You will get greater results if you pray 5 minutes everyday than praying for 60 minutes every week. I will exhort you to pray every morning. Start your day with prayer. Jesus arose long before day break.
- Avoid interruption and being a nuisance to others: Jesus Christ went to a solitary place to pray, not because God lurks in dark places; I am sure he went out to pray to guarantee privacy without interruption. He did not want to be a nuisance to anybody.
- Prayer is not a substitute for work: Prayer does not substitute work but augments efforts. You notice that even after our Lord Jesus Christ had prayed all morning, He still took action on His assignment. He did what He was supposed to do. He instructed His disciples to come with Him to preach in other places. Start your day with prayer and then work on your dreams and goals.
- Prayer makes tremendous power available: Those who pray achieve more because they receive the power to do more. Prayer releases the power to drive positive and fruitful action. The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous avails much.
May the Lord bless and empower you to pray. I pray with you that you will start your day with fervent prayer. May the Lord transform your heart and build in you greater faith for exploits in the name of JESUS!
Bless you!
