[1 Timothy 4:13-16 KJV] “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
“Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.“
I want to share with you simple steps to attain personal growth:
- Stay connected to your spiritual roots to stay productive and fruitful. Growth is a mystery and a spiritual thing. Many destinies have crashed because they disconnected from their spiritual roots. (See John 15:5)
- Be submitted to those appoint to feed and watch over you. Know and highly esteem them highly in love. You must remain not just connected to your spiritual roots but submitted to spiritual fathers and instructors.
- Prepare the grounds of your mind and heart to recieve wisdom and genuine knowledge. 1 Peter 2:1-4 admonishes the “saints to lay aside malice, evil speaking, hypocrisy, and guile”. Everyone must have the right attitude towards knowledge to be able to recieve. (See Proverbs 9:6-10)
- Desire geniune working knowledge of what you are venturing into. You can only grow in grace and knowledge in what you have a geniune desire for, a true working knowledge of every venture we are embarking on. You must be willing to give attention to reading, exhortation, and doctrine. Be rest assured that you will not be different in 5 years to come except for the books you read and company you keep; these are two things that will remarkably influence you.
- Hear, recieve, believe, and act on the Word. Give yourself wholly to the things you read, hear, see, and think on. Keep reading, listening, watching, and acting on the Word.
“I will admonish you to forsake the foolish, and live; And go in the way of understanding. He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: And he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: Rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: And the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:6-10)
Have a nice day!
