[Psalm 127:2 KJV] “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: For so he giveth his beloved sleep.“
We all have the opportunity to be anxious in a world ridden with pain, confusion, and stress; but each of us can make a choice not to be anxious.
I want to speak on three simple antidotes for anxiety. The Bible tells us that it is vain to sit up late and to rise early to eat the bread of sorry. We must learn how to overcome the temptation to be anxious. Cares and anxiety will stifle your productivity and fruitfulness.
I exhort you today to use the keys shared to escape the temptation to be anxious. This is the day the Lord has made and we should be glad in it. We must learn to rejoice and be thankful for the gift of life.
The three simple antidote to anxiety are as follows:
1. Cast all your cares upon God because He cares
Casting your cares upon the Lord is not lazily shirking your responsibility to the Lord. It’s takes a lot of effort and faith to say that I leave things in the hands of God. That does not mean that you leave your responsibility to God, but you trust Him with the outcome of your effort. Though David fought Goliath in the name of the Lord he came with five stones. He took initiative but trusted God with the outcome.
“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”. (1 Peter 5:6-7 KJV)
2. Learn to pray rather than worry
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7 KJV)
I want to exhort you to learn how to bring everything before the Lord in prayer. Remember, everything by prayer; nothing without prayer. Don’t allow anything to steal your peace. Learn to pray like it all depends on prayer.
3. Look on Jesus, lest you become weary in your mind
Lift your eyes and look to Jesus; you may become weak in your mind if you don’t learn to look to Jesus. He is the author and the finisher of our faith. He is able to keep us ; look to Him. Let Him know that you look to Him!
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” (Hebrews 12:1-3 KJV)
Blessing
May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding keep your hearts and minds in peace in Jesus name! May you never fail! Recieve the grace to continue in peace and run the race set before.
Stay blessed!
