Matthew 16:18 (KJV) – “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Exhortation
I don’t know what you may be going through but there is one thing that I know, you are more powerful than all the gates of hell! Remember this and settle! Jesus never promised a fight-free life; He promised a victorious Church. Hell may have gates, but it does not have the final say. Darkness may rise, but it cannot withstand what Christ builds.
When Jesus spoke these words in Matthew 16:18, He declared ownership: “I will build My church.” The Church is not man-made; it is Christ-built. And whatever Christ builds, He sustains.
Gates are defensive structures. They don’t attack, they resist. That means the Church is on the offensive. We are not hiding from hell; hell is bracing against us. The storms may rage. Opposition may intensify. But the foundation is unshakable. The power of death, fear, persecution, and spiritual warfare can not overpower what is rooted in Christ. If you are in Christ, you are part of a prevailing church. You are not fighting for victory. You are standing in it.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for building Your Church on an unshakable foundation. Strengthen my faith to stand firm when opposition rises. Remind me that no weapon, no scheme, and no gate of hell can prevail against what You have established. Make me bold, steadfast, and confident in Your victory. Amen.
