Genesis 18:9-15 KJV — And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. [10] And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
[11] Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. [12] Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? [13] And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
[14] Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. [15] Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.
Sometimes life can throw things at you; life can bombard you with things until you give up completely! Have you ever been at that place in life when life hit you so hard, you give up on trying. Sarah was at that place in life in the story you just read.
This was at a time when Abraham and Sarah had been trusting God and counting on his word to have a child. Remember, when Abraham met God, he was 75 years old and Sarah was 65. At this point the had been following God and counting on his promises for over 23 years. They had become well stricken in age; meaning age was beginning to have a toll on both of them; then all of a sudden God shows you and ignites the hopes of having a child.
Though both of them still trust God, I am sure they had resigned thinking, the word meant something else, but God was up to something. When Sarah heard the prophecy; she laughed! She laughed, not in disbelief but logically, she thought it was not time to time again.
- She was old and Abraham was old
- Her womb was dead and Abraham’s potency had been affected by age. I am sure even the quality of his sperm had deteriorated.
Sometimes, it feels like the odds are against you. It feels like nothing would work again. Mostly at a certain point people give up on change and improvement and resign; but I came to exhort you that it is time to try again. All of us should hope for the day when God shall appear and say “let’s try again!” Your day is coming! That day when God shall put a smile on your face and light up your countenance.
I will encourage you to do what Abraham and Sarah did. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is on top of his game and he will do it again. The odds may appear to be against you but the odds can never be against God. He knows how to bring what he has said to pass. Just do what Abraham and Sarah did.
Church, I believe it is time to try again. This is not the time to give up nor throw in the towel. I see God building is into 100 micro-churches growing in 1000 members each. The dream can not die; just keep dreaming; but don’t just dream, do what Abraham and Sarah did.
Romans 4:16-21 KJV — Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, [17] (as it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
[18] Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. [19] And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
[20] he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; [21] and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
What did Abraham and Sarah do?
- Accept that it will take faith and grace. Grace is what will work it out but you can access this grace that is God by faith in Jesus Christ! I pray that the Lord will help you to keep faith! May your faith never fail! May your faith become a stronger shield to quench every fiery darts of darkness.
- Believe God, who quickens the dead and calls the things that are not as though they were. God is not limited by what we lack. God is not limited by what we don’t have. God is not limited, he can both quicken the dead and create anything out of nothing. Don’t let what you don’t have and what is dead in your story steal your faith. Trust God! The healing, the new breaks, the doors of wealth and greatest, that suitor is coming. It won’t linger, it won’t fail!
- Be fully persuaded that God has promised, he will never faith. Hang on him! Don’t stagger at the promise! Don’t consider your body that is dead nor the obvious odds that may be against you! Even when there seems to be no chance, hope thou in the Lord. God has promised to heal and liberate us; and he is able! The church will grow and spread! Your body and womb will be healed again! The job opening is coming! You will not be put to shame! Just trust and obey! Do what you must do and leave the rest for God to fix.
Stay blessed! Lift up your eyes and see the hand of God lift over you. May the Lord cause the fulfillment of every dream that seemed to have dried up and died! Your dreams and aspirations will come alive again, in the name of Jesus Christ! Receive the grace to press on and finish strong!
