[Isaiah 40:29-31 KJV] “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:”
“but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
There is nothing strange about feeling fatigued, but you must not crush under that pressure. The Bible tells us that even the youth faint and grow weary; indeed, young men utterly fall but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.
Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint; but how do I wait upon the Lord?
The simple tips to wait on God for the renewed strength are:
- Solitary
- Silence
- Reading, listening and watching
- Singing, praying and worshipping
- Tarrying
1. Solitary
The Bible teaches us in Mark 1:35, that our Lord Jesus Christ will wake early in the morning before daybreak and seek a solitary place to pray. Everyone desiring to wait on God for renewed strength must seek a quiet place. This is the secret to His power in ministry. He will always find a quiet and solitary place and seek the Father.
[Mark 1:32-35 KJV] “And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. And all the city was gathered together at the door.”
“And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”
Do you realise that in 1 Kings 19:11, when God found Elijah fleeing from Jezebel; He commanded him to go to the mountain top that He may speak to him. Solitary is important to hear from God. The Lord require Elijah to seek a quiet place that He may speak to him.
[1 Kings 19:11-13 KJV] “And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD;”
“but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”
“And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
God instructed Abraham, even at an old age to take Isaac and walk a 3 days journey to Moriah and offer sacrifices unto him. You must appreciate the value of solitary. There are times when you must separate yourself to sacrifice.
[Genesis 22:2 KJV] “And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”
Remember the Prophet Samuel instructed Saul to make the servant take the lead before he spoke to him. There are certain things God will tell you alone. As you read the text you will discover that at a point Samuel spoke to Saul before all the people; then he spoke to Saul before his servant; but finally, he requested to speak to Saul alone.
[1 Samuel 9:22-27 KJV] “And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the parlour, and made them sit in the chiefest place among them that were bidden, which were about thirty persons. And Samuel said unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave thee, of which I said unto thee, Set it by thee.”
“And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold that which is left! set it before thee, and eat: for unto this time hath it been kept for thee since I said, I have invited the people. So Saul did eat with Samuel that day.”
“And when they were come down from the high place into the city, Samuel communed with Saul upon the top of the house. And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad”.
“And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.“
Have you observed that even when Our Lord Jesus Christ went with His disciples to the garden to pray; He separated Himself and as He prayed? There is power in being alone with God.
Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
Matthew 26:36 KJV
Sometimes, after the revival meetings, our Lord Jesus Christ sent the disciples away and spent the nights in prayer. He prayed and spent the time either alone or with a few who believed in prayer.
[Matthew 14:22-23 KJV] “And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.“
Solitary is important for waiting. Apostle Paul, after His encounter on the road of Damascus; spent the time praying in a house. The Holy men did not always pray in mountains and wilderness but also houses.
[Acts 9:11-12 KJV] “And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, and hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.”
2. Silience
The Bible teaches us in Habakkuk 2:18-20 that there is no profit to be silent before dumb idols because they don’t speak, but the Lord is in His holy temple, let the earth be silent before Him. When the Lord is in His holy temple, He speaks with a still small voice; hence the need to be silent before Him.
[Habakkuk 2:18-20 KJV] “What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?”
“Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it. But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.”
I believe you remember how He spoke when the prophet requested to see His glory. He spoke in the still small voice after the fire, the quakes, and the shaking. There Lord does not always thunder and scream, but He always speaks.
And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?”
3. Reading, listening, and watching
The third secret to waiting on God is to read, listen, and watching videos that inspire faith and devotion. In Ezekiel 2:2, we understand that the prophet Ezekiel received strength as the Lord spake with him.
[Ezekiel 2:1-2 KJV] “And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me”
There is power in the word; so as you soak in the word, you receive that power. I pray that you will give attendance to reading and listening and watching inspiring messages. This is one of the sure ways to catch the anointing.
Reading faith literature, listening and watching inspiring messages is one way to stay fresh and catch the anointing. I pray that you will not be weary in reading, listening, and watching. Apostle Paul admonished Timothy to give himself wholly to the things he reads and see and hear from the books, the Bible and the messages.
[1 Timothy 4:13-15 KJV] “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.“
4. Singing, Praying and Worshipping
This is what we mean by ministering to the Lord. In Acts 13, the apostles and prophets and teachers waited upon the Lord and ministered to Him.
5. Tarrying
We must be ready to spend time with God. Remember, only those who tarry at wine have the redness of the eye.
[Proverbs 23:29-30 KJV] “Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? Who hath babbling? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; They that go to seek mixed wine.”
Stay blessed
