[Psalms 23:4 KJV] “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me”.
It is important to remind you of what matters most in life. It is not to make more money or find a job or complete school. What matters most is to run the race that is set before you, finish your course and keep the faith. It will profit a man nothing if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul. You must run the race, finish your course, and keep the faith. One of the things that will try to keep you from running the race, finishing your course, and keeping the faith is fear.
Fear is simply a false sense of inferiority, inadequacy, and lethargy. It usually manifests as intimidation, inadequacy, inferiority complex, timidity, and cowardice. These are the manifestations of fear. Fear may manifest as a feeling of intimidation, a feeling of inadequacy, a feeling of inferiority, a feeling of timidity or cowardice.
Many are afraid of what they don’t even know. There is the fear of the unknown and the known; fear of the truth and of lies; fear of abandonment and of acceptance; fear of what might be, and what might not be. People fear so many things. Sometimes people even fear their own shadows. I don’t know what you fear, but fear has torment.
This beast or spirit called fear will try to make you take flight, wander afar off. It tries to rob us of strength and energy. When fear is present, many feel like taking a flight. Many run away from reality and wander off and escape. Many bury their heads in alcohol, sex, fun, and entertainment just to get away from their problems. There are many moving from church to church, town to town, relationship to relationship, and man to man, just to get away from the pressures of fear.
Fear works by blowing things out of proportion. Fear works by exaggeration. Fear works by making mountains out of molehills. Fear works by enlarging your problems while diminishing your potentials. Fear portrayed Goliath far bigger in the eyes of the Israelites than he really was. David was able to fight him because he saw him in his right dimensions.
Where does fear come from?
Firstly, fear comes from the presence of our handicaps and infirmities;
Sometimes, the presence of our infirmities reminds us of our own limitations. Sometimes, you just can’t ignore them because the pain is right there or the handicap is right there. It is evident and you can’t lie about it.
The second source of fear is the wrong mindset, thought patterns, and impressions;
Many of us hold a psychotic impression about life as though it is the truth. We believe false impressions so strongly that it is impossible to get them out of our minds. We are often so obsessed with wrong thoughts that we can’t believe the truth anymore.
Thirdly, fear comes from unreasonable expectations we hold about life, what it could be, and what others think it should have been;
It is important not to hold an exaggerated view of what life must be. Be moderate, and let your moderation be made know to all men.
Fourthly, fear may come through the oppression, opposition, suffering, and afflictions of the enemy;
Sometimes we become afraid and ashamed when we see the sufferings of our fathers and forerunners. It is very easy to think that such things will come upon you too.
2 Timothy teaches us how to deal with fear;
[2 Timothy 1:5-8 KJV] “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also”.
“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;”
When you get afraid, don’t run away, don’t wander afar off, and don’t escape to a wilderness, rather;
Remember your story:
Everybody has a story and everybody has made a journey so far. Remember those stories of faith. When David had to face Goliath, he recounted his victories over the bear and the lion in the wilderness.
Every one of us has a story and has made a journey so far, when the enemy tries to overwhelm you, recount those stories and remind yourself of the grace of God that has brought you this far. Apostle Paul reminded Timoty of the faith that was in his grandmother and in his mother, which was also in Timothy.
Stir up the gift and grace of God in you:
Strive to stir up the gifts and grace of God that is in you. Stir it through the word, fellowship, prayer, and breaking of bread.
Face the realities of life with power, love, and a sound mind:
You are most often afraid of the things you are afraid of because you are not thinking right. When your thoughts are impaired, your heart will fear. You can fight fear and panic through sound godly thinking. You must, therefore, strive to think in power, love, and sound mind.
Don’t be ashamed of the testimonies of the Lord despite the presence of your infirmities, inadequacies, and shortfalls;
God is still God despite the presence of thorns, shortfalls, and afflictions in the lives of His children. The presence of trouble in your life does not mean the absence of God. Don’t be ashamed; be bold and courageous; your God is still alive.
May you never fear! You will surely overcome the beast called fear. The devil shall not afflict you with fear.
Be blessed; I love you!

a very unique definition; “a false sense of inferiority, inadequacy and lethargy” because God is our sufficiency!
