[1 Thessalonians 5:6 KJV] “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober”.
We want to remind ourselves of the need to watch and be sober. We know that the end of all things is at hand, and the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night. Jesus is coming again, and He shall come as a thief in the night. It is not important to calculate times and seasons but just watch and be sober.
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night [1 Thessalonians 5:3-7 KJV].
The word tells us that while the prophets preach and rant and shout peace and safety, then suddenly destruction shall come. This is the time to awake and be sober. The day of the Lord shall come suddenly, as a woman in labour. That day shall take many by surprise, but it should not take you by surprise because you are a child of light. You are a child of day. Wake up, watch and be sober!
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night [1 Thessalonians 5:3-7 KJV].
The simple secret to live ready as a child of light is to;
- Be sober
- Put on the breastplate of faith and love
- And the hope of salvation as a helmet
Let us live our lives ready and not wait until the last hour before we try to get ready. The night is far spent and day is breaking. You can be ready, you must be ready. Don’t leave your life to chance, let us get ready!
[1 Thessalonians 5:6-8 KJV] “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him”.
Glory to God! God has not appointed us to wrath. He has sent His son to die for us, and we can be saved from the power of sin if we believe.
[1 Thessalonians 5:11 KJV] “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do”.
