[1 Corinthians 12:7-11 KJV] “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. [8] For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; [9] To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; [10] To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: [11] But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will”.
There are nine manifestations of the Spirit listed in this text;
1. Word of knowledge:
This is the grace to know things you could not have known except you were told. It is a supernatural ability to have knowledge that you have not learned.
2. Word of wisdom:
The supernatural ability to understand stuff in unusual ways. It is supernatural insight.
3. Gift of faith:
The gift of faith is the supernatural ability to have faith in a positive possible turn out in hopeless situations. The gift of faith is necessary for problem solving; when we are confronted with problem situations, we need the ability to believe in a possible solution before we can even attempt to solve them.
4. Gifts of healing:
It is the supernatural grace to heal broken and sick people or things. Healing is needed in a broken world. It is the ability to fix things or people supernaturally.
5. Working of miracles:
Working of miracles is the supernatural ability and effort to turn impossible situations around. It is the effort to turn things around in ways that logic cannot explain.
6. Prophecy:
Prophecy is both forth telling and fore telling. It is speaking by inspiration to reveal a purpose or to raise the spirits of your hearers to act. It is supernatural, and must comfort and edify.
7. Discerning of spirits:
This is the supernatural abiliy to read motives and know the forces behind actions.
8. Interpretation of tongues:
This is that supernatural ability to understand strange tongues. May the Lord empower your ears to hear the interpretation of many tongues.
9. Speaking of diverse tongues:
This is the supernatural empowerment to speak a language you have not learned. It is a supernatural ability given specially by the Holy Ghost.
These are the nine manifestations listed here, but not all that there is. There are many other manifestations mentioned in scripture but I just want to introduce these nine for now. You can be empowered to walk in all nine, or a combination of two, three, four or five. Be blessed and may the Lord endow you with great grace!
