Many years ago, a jailor who was put in charge of apostles Paul and Silas (when they were arrested in Phillippi) had an encounter that provoked him to think about how he could be saved. He witnessed how the power of God, through mere praises and prayers of two men, could shake down prison gates.
[Acts 16:30-32 KJV] “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house”.
I am sure he had been hearing the preaching of these men but had not paid serious attention to it until that day.
He asked one of the most thought-provoking questions. He asked them, “what he must do to be saved?”.
My question is, must all men be saved? If we must, then saved from what? And how can men everywhere be saved?
Must all men be saved?
Yes! Absolutely yes! All men must be saved! All men must be saved from the shame and repercussions of sin.
The Bible tells us that in the beginning, God created man in His own image and likeness to rule in the midst of His creation. God blessed man to be fruitful, to multiply, and to replenish and fill the earth. God created and blessed man with all spiritual blessings.
The Bible continues to teach that God put man in the garden of Eden to dress and to keep the garden. This is where man lived with his wife until they disobeyed God, and death began to reign until Moses. The Bible tells us that death is evidence of sin in us. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23, that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. That is proof that all men must be saved from the shame and repercussions of sin. The Bible says, “death ruled, even over those who did not sin after the similitude of Adam”.
What must you do to be saved?
The simple step to be saved is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
1. You must admit that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God:
It is important to admit that, no matter how perfect you may appear, there is a better way you can live life. There is a better version of you yet to be uncovered and discovered.
2. You must also admit that the wages of sin is death, but eternal life is a free gift of God through Jesus Christ.
3. You must admit that Jesus Christ is the propitiation for sin:
Jesus Christ is that man that God sent to redeem mankind from the repercussions of sin and disobedience.
It is as simple as that to be saved. Eternal life is a free gift from God. It is free because the Son of God gave Himself as a ransom for all. He died in your place that you might live forever. He is the son of God and the ransom for the sins of the whole world. He suffered that we might live. He is the Son of God who died and rose again.
Stay blessed, I love you!
