[Romans 14:12 KJV] “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.“
No matter what a preacher teaches, what you do with it is your choice.
We all have different preachers in our lives. Some of us go to church and listen to a sermon every week. Others listen to podcasts or watch online sermons. And still others get their spiritual guidance from books or articles.
No matter how we get our spiritual guidance, it’s important to remember that we are ultimately responsible for our own choices. A preacher can teach us what the Bible says, but it’s up to us to decide whether or not we want to follow that teaching.
This is an important reminder, because it can be easy to get caught up in what other people think we should do. We may feel pressured to conform to the expectations of our family, friends, or church community. But we need to remember that our relationship with God is personal. It’s between us and God, and no one else.
So, if you’re ever feeling confused or conflicted about what a preacher teaches, remember that you have a choice. You can choose to follow that teaching, or you can choose to do something else. Ultimately, the decision is up to you.
Here are some Bible verses that can help us remember that we are ultimately responsible for our own choices:
- “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-24)
- “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.” (John 14:15)
So, let’s not be afraid to make our own choices. Let’s be bold and courageous, and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. After all, we are accountable to God, not to our preachers or anyone else.
Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for the freedom to choose. Thank you for giving me the ability to make my own decisions. Help me to always choose what is right, even when it’s difficult. Give me the courage to stand up for what I believe in, even when others disagree. And help me to always follow your leading, no matter what.
