1 Samuel 30:1-8 KJV — “And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; [2] and had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.”
[3] “So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. [4] Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.”
[5] “And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. [6] And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”
[7] “And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David. [8] And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.“
I have done some exhortation prior to this explaining the need to pursue to recover, restore, and redeploy to function as created and appointed by God. There are certain things that would help you to recover!
The leading of the Holy Ghost
You need the leading of the Holy Spirit if you want to recover all. Sometimes, we attempt to recover all and even end up recovering what God is saving us from. We need the Holy Spirit to reveal what things are freely given.
In one city the Holy Spirit forbade Apostle Paul and his team from preaching; but in another, even when the opposition and persecution arose, He urged them to keep preaching.
Acts 16:5-9 KJV — “And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily. [6] Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,”
[7] “after they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.[8] And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. [9] And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.“
Acts 18:8-11 KJV — “And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. [9] Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:”
[10] “for I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city. [11] And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.“
The power of God
The next thing you need is the power of God. Without power, your effort will end in futility. Therefore, in Luke 24:48-52, the Lord urged the early church to tarry until they are endued with power from on high (See Acts 1:8; Acts 10:38).
A personal passion
We need a personal passion and drive for souls. Remember that 200 out of the 600 men that set off with David, became discouraged and fainted. If you don’t have a personal passion and drive for your purpose, the dream ends and vision grinds to a halt when the strength of the bearers of burdens decays (See Nehemiah 4:9).
In the case of Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, the work continued even when the men of Judah fainted. David was able to press on to recover all because he knew how to encourage himself in the Lord.
People to stand with you
The fourth things you need are people to stand with you. In Acts 2, when Apostle Peter stood up to preach, the eleven stood with him.
In the Book of Timothy, Apostle Paul lamented how no man stood by him at his defense, when he as being tried. No matter how anointed you are, you need people who stand with you.
A sound engineer who understands your anointing to give you the right volumes that enhances your anionting; a camera man/woman who knows what to focus on with instruction.
Ushers who know how to make the people to sit in groups. Even our Lord Jesus had to instruct the disciples on how to arrange the five thousand men and their families to enhance the anointing of increase without a stampede.
People to show you the way
In the narrative of how David recovered his family, he needed the sick Egyptian, who was abandoned by his master; to show him the way. We all need someone who can show us the way. God also uses people to show the way to breakthrough.
In the absence of Jethro as in the case of Moses; God would use an angel to show you how to make progress as in the case of Jacob working with Laban; or Daniel praying for the redemption of Israel (See Daniel 9)
People to connect you
Finally, you will need people who connect you to the right places. Barnabbas connected Paul to the church. You need your John the Baptist to connect and introduce you. May the Lord bring people who will make the bridge to the right connection.
Stay blessed
