Today, I want to exhort you on the need to fear the Lord. Many of us, like Pharaoh, are riding in the fast and buoyant chariots of life. Many of us are in the prime of our lives and we don’t even think of death or life after death. Many in this generation treat the word of the Lord and His message to us with the same contempt that Pharaoh gave it.
[Exodus 5:1-2 KJV] “And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. [2] And Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord , that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord , neither will I let Israel go”.
Discussion
As an evangelist and as a witness, I have met people who treated my message with contempt. Once, a man asked me this same question, “who is Jesus that I should allow Him to control my life.” I have seen such arrogance many times. Indeed, if you know, you know. Those who know the Lord fear Him and find every reason to fear Him.
So, there are three key things I want you to know about the Lord. Those who know and believe these three things do better in the fear of the Lord.
[Nahum 1:1-3, 7 KJV] The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. [2] God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth; the Lord revengeth, and is furious; the Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. [3] The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. [4] The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him”.
Remember;
1. The Lord is jealous, He takes vengeance and is furious:
The Lord is jealous, He takes vengeance on His enemies, and does it furiously. Indeed, the Lord is jealous and will not share His glory or praise with any. He will fight anything that tries to carry His love away. Fear the Lord because He is furious and takes revenge.
2. The Lord is slow to anger, great in power and will not acquit the wicked:
The Lord is slow to anger, His slowness is meant for your repentance. He is slow to anger because He is good to men. He hopes for the best in us and waits patiently to see change. The Lord may be slow to anger but not weak. He is powerful and will not acquit the wicked.
3. The Lord is good, a stronghold in times of trouble and knows those who trust Him:
What this means is that you shall never regret trusting Him. He will be a stronghold to you in the day of trouble and will be good to you all the days of your life. The Lord is a shield unto us, we shall not fear the dark or evil day. He shall hide us in His pavilion and shall be our strong tower.
So, if someone asks you, who is the Lord that I should fear Him? Your answer must be simple: the Lord is the God who revenges His enemies that don’t fear Him. He is the Lord who will not acquit the wicked, yet He knows them that trust and fears Him. The Lord is our strong tower and a shield unto us in times of trouble.
Be blessed; I love you!

Amen. I shall fear the Lord. Who is slow to anger but might in his wrath.
