Why and How to Pray for Your Family

I want you to pray for your family today. The reason is the simple fact that even though salvation is an individual affair, when it comes to inheritance and blessings, it is transgenerational and for families.

Take your time and read the Scriptures, you will understand that when God looks at nations, He sees families, cities, and villages.

God wants everyone to belong to a family. That is why He frowns on having children out of wedlock. He wants godly children; and in His wisdom, the only way to raise godly children is in a family setting.

That is also why God hates divorce.

[Malachi 2:15 KJV] “And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.” (Read Malachi 2:14-16)

Many of the dysfunctions we are confronted with in our societies today are as a result of dysfunctional homes, single parenting, and indulgent parents, who spare the rod and hence spoil their children.

We will be spending the next day praying for our families. We want to call on God to build stronger and bonded families. Many of us will do far better if we stayed in a family setting. The many dysfunctions that you see around you are because the family system has broken down.

Spend the next few moments to say a prayer for your family;

1. Prayer for the protection of your family;

Plead the blood of Jesus upon the spiritual gates of your family. Every family has spiritual gates! Tell the Lord to keep and protect every member of the family you belong to and represent.

The family you belong to is your father’s, but the family your represent is the one you have or intend to start. Pray that no calamity, no angel of death, no witch nor wizard can penetrate the wall of fire around your family!

2. Pray that every member of your family will live a disciplined life;

Decree that no bad attitude, lifestyle, or characters shall be able to enter your home. Rebuke demons of profanity, prodigality, prostitution, LGBT, alcoholism, drug uses!

Decree that no demons of stealing, robbery, violence, deviant behaviour, promiscuity, or any such vices shall be able to enter your home or family. Pray that none in your family shall be lost to any deviant or bad behaviour. PRAY!

3. Pray for the health of your family;

Pray that God will put none of the diseases of Egypt upon any member of your family. Pray and rebuke every spirit of infirmity and weakness trying to gain access to the home.

Decree that none shall be sick! Pray and decree for improved health for your family. Pray that the Lord will heal every member of your family. Receive the healing.

I rebuke every evil power that makes people sick in our of the homes in the name of Jesus! Our children cannot be sick! Our spouses cannot be sick! I decree health now!

4. Pray for a heart that loves God and loves to serve;

Pray that the Lord shall stir in the heart of every member of your family a heart that loves God and loves to serve others. The Lord will give us a heart of compassion and a tongue of kindness. May our children grow to love the Lord and serve humanity.

5. Pray for the friendships of your family;

Pray that no member of your family shall fall into bad company. Pray that the Lord shall give us the wisdom to choose our friends CAREFULLY.

Pray that God will help us to escape the enticement of the wicked and sinners. Pray that neither your children, spouse, or siblings shall be enticed by the gains of wickedness. May the Lord guide your hearts!

6. Pray for the unity of the family;

A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand! Pray and arrest every spirit that causes division and in-fighting among siblings. Pray that God will help us to dwell in peace (See Psalm 133).

7. Pray that the Lord shall raise giants and honourable men from your family;

Pray that God will bless us with giants, honourable, and great men and women from our families. Pray for the family! Pray!

We pray against deviant behaviours! We stop poverty! We reject premature death! We decree prosperity and godliness! We decree promotions! We declare safe passage into 2021 and to continue beyond! We arrest the spirit of infirmity and addictions! We pray for advancement!
