I want to exhort you on the need to say Amen at the giving of a blessing. Amen is not a Christian cliché but a spiritual affirmation of faith that guarantees results.
Text
[1 Corinthians 14:14-16 KJV] “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. [15] What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. [16] Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?”
Discussion
Amen is not just an exclamation but a spiritual response to a blessing or declaration to accent to.
When the church comes together, we must say Amen at the blessing and giving of thanks. Amen is part of responding in worship. Simple reasons why Amen is important to make our services effective are:
1. The promises of God in Christ are yea and Amen:
Amen is not a cliché, it is in accordance to the will of God. The Bible tells us that all the promises of God in Christ are yea and amen.
[2 Corinthians 1:20 KJV] “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us”.
2. Amen is the name of Jesus:
In the book of Revelation, we learn that Jesus Christ is also known as Amen. When you shout Amen! You have in effect shouted Jesus! When we respond Amen, we have in effect shouted that God is faithful and Jesus is a true witness.
[Revelation 3:14 KJV] “And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;”
3. Saying Amen shows that you agree and concur:
Saying Amen is actually affirming that you believe what God is saying;
[Nehemiah 8:6 KJV] “And Ezra blessed the Lord , the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground”.
Conclusion
Amen is a spiritual thing and we must understand its place in worship and preaching.
Stay blessed; I love you!
