[2] And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; [3] Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. [4] And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. [5] And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. [6] Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. [7] And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. [8] And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God”.
Many of us never walk into our miracles because we are looking for someone who will feed our malfunction rather than someone who would challenge us to get up and walk. The story of the man at the gate called Beautiful must inspire us to get out of every mess or corner that we are stuck in.
You are ripe for a miracle as the man at the gate beautiful, but until you are strong and courageous enough to let go of the malfunction and disability that has fed you all of your life, you can’t harvest your miracle.
It is important to remember that the man had lived with and lived off his malfunction and disability all his life. The only life he had known was a life of disability and malfunction. So when he first met Peter and John, he asked them for silver or gold. He was doing what he had done for so many years. But thanks be to God that he encountered a different breed of men on that fateful day. They had came to pray; they knew the name of Jesus, and they had what it takes.
Allow the new truth your hear to shape your thinking and understanding:
The man had lived that way for too long but when he heard the truth from Peter and John, he allowed the new truth to shape what he was thinking and how he was thinking. He reacted to their presence as usual; he asked for silver and gold. However, they were not ready with silver and gold, but they were ready with something else. They had neither silver nor gold, but still they knew they had something far better. They knew they had something they could share. And they were willing to give what they had.
They had the name of Jesus and they gave him the name of Jesus. Peter said “…in the name of Jesus! Rise up and walk.” They challenged him to get out of the mess that had shaped him all his life. He had admitted certain things all of his life and it was messing him up.
Two things are going to activate and deliver your miracle; What you hear and how it shapes what and how you are thinking:
When they said “look on us”, he looked on them, expecting to receive something. When they said, “silver and gold have we none”, he also looked to see what they would offer him.
What you hear will shape your thoughts and understanding, and thereby, determine your actions and outcomes. You are ripe for a miracle only if you are ready for change. If you are ready to challenge the status quo, then you are ready to step into your miracle. It will take a lot of courage to agree to step out of lameness into ability, after you have lived off your disability for so long. Sometimes, it is the malfunction that has fed you all this while; stepping out of it can be a challenging move. You must be bold and courageous. However, the truth remains that, you are due for a miracle. You must be willing to embrace your new normal.
Finally, be willing to cling on to the lifeline with the right attitude:
Peter gave him a hand and he held on to it with the right attitude. Naaman nearly missed his miracle because he had a poor attitude towards the lifeline. Your attitude towards the lifeline will determine your harvest. Stay blessed!
I love you;
