[1 Corinthians 14:10 KJV]“There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification”.
The Christian calling is a calling to follow a voice – the voice of God. This voice is the leading voice. This is the part of God by which He fellowshipped with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
[Genesis 3:8 KJV] “And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden”.
However, one truth Adam and Eve missed which you should not miss is the fact that there are many voice in the world just like there were many voices in Eden, the garden of God. These many voices may be grouped into four categories:
- The voice of God through dreams, visions, prophesy and your teachers.
- The voice of the human spirit or the flesh through intuition, and memory.
- The voice of devils
- The voice of the world and elements of the earth. Eve heard the serpent speak, she heard the fruits also speak. Nature can both reveal the nature of God (Romans 1:18) and that of Satan.
[Isaiah 30:20-21 KJV] “And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
The Lord has promised to lead and guide us by His voice and word from teachers. The prophet speaks clearly that you shall hear a word behind you, saying, this is the way, walk you in it…
In Ezekiel we see it happening; [Ezekiel 3:10-12 KJV] “Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears. And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord God ; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear. Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place.”
The most important issue here is to be able to discern which voice is speaking to you. When the serpent spoke to Eve, she should have discerned what voice it is. The voice said, “it is good for food; she saw it and it looked good for food”. Discernment is so good for you in days like this.
Hebrews 5:14 teaches that it takes constant use of milk – clear instructions – to be able to discern good from evil.
Don’t live for food and pleasure. Be careful when all that matters to you is food and pleasure (See Micah 2:11). In these last days there are many lying and masquerading voices; let us beware. These wicked spirits mimic the voice of God.
See 2 Corinthians 11:13-22, 1 Kings 22:23, 1 Chronicles 18:21-22. These are three Scriptures that can help us to discern the voice of God.
In Matthew 16:23, we learn that the voice of the devil sounds like the voice of a man; it focuses on the now and not on the big picture. [Matthew 16:23 KJV] “But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.”
The voice of the devil generates strive, envying and evil [James 3:16 KJV] “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.(17) But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”
Now to hear the voice of God we should pay attention to our;
1. Dreams and vision:
[Joel 2:28 KJV] And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
2. Prophesy:
[1 Corinthians 14:10 KJV] There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
3. Singing:
[Ephesians 5:18-20 KJV] And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (19) Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; (20) Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
[Colossians 3:16 KJV] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
James 3:17 teaches us clearly what the wisdom of God looks like, it is pure and peaceable.
Be delivered from every lying and masquerading spirit in these last days. You shall hear the voice of God and follow it. You shall not miss the way. God is with you!
I love you!
