After all is said and done; where you will spend eternity is what matters.
[Daniel 12:1-4 KJV] “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
I wish above all things that each of us will understand without doubt that after all is said and done, where we spend eternity is what matters most. The heights we attain in all the endeavours of life does not matter much. The number of houses we built or cars we bought will not matter much after we close our eyes. It is, therefore, imperative that we live with eternity in focus. When we finally close our eyes, our works may live after us, but what will matter to us is what we stored in eternity.
The Bible tells us by the prophet Daniel that terrible and difficult times will come, and many shall fall on sleep but we shall all rise again, some to eternal life and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Two people will laugh without regrets: the wise and those who turn many to righteousness. This suggests that the best way to live is to walk in wisdom and spend your days turning many to righteousness. These are the two things that matter a lot in life and to life.
I will, therefore, encourage you to;
- Receive Jesus Christ as the way, the truth, and the life.
- Be baptised and added to the church
- Continue steadfastly in prayer, fellowship, and obedience
- Build healthy relationships with other believers
- Eat your bread with gladness and singleness of heart
- Continue in the truth in the temple and from house to house daily
- Trade to earn money to support yourself and others in need
- Praise and have favour with God and with men
This is how those who are living with eternity in focus live. They continue in the faith, they work hard to earn a living and giving, they live content with such as they have, and they live peacefully with all men.
We must note that God has never been against legitimate work; God wants us to work but the love of money is dangerous. Money should not be the motivation for working; we must work in order to earn a living and to support the weak and missions. The early church sold their lands and possessions and gave it to the poor; at a later time, however, Apostle Paul admonished the church to work and support the weak. Remember, our purpose for work is to help us to live an honest life, support the weak, support ministry and mission. Working, therefore, should not take us away from serving in missions or ministry.
It is important to remind ourselves again that the wise shall shine as the firmament but those who turn many to righteousness shall shine like stars. We are called to turn many to righteousness. We have a responsibility and an indebtedness to the world around us. The day we stop reaching the world around us, we begin to die. Our lives depend on our ministry and missions to the world. That is what we should be living for. We should witness with both our deeds and words.
We should continue in the faith and obedience not just in church or when others are watching. We should continue in the doctrine in the church building, at home, and from house to house, at work, online, and wherever we go. Many of us are only Christians in the temple and not online, at home, or at work. The early church, however, continued everywhere.
I believe with all my heart that it is time to start living with eternity in focus. We must hope for better things in life eternal. We must strive and live with eternity in focus.
