Luke 24:45 (KJV) — “Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures”
I want to exhort you today on the need to pray that God will enlighten your understanding.
There are times when reality is so hidden in broad daylight that you really wonder what is wrong. Revelation and illumination are spiritual things, and it takes God to make them clear to you. In the text you just read, the people walked with the risen Messiah for miles and did not discern him. Many of us are walking in the midst of so much, yet we know so little.
Let us pray that God will open our understanding and seal instruction. In these 70 days, we are hoping and trusting God to open our understanding. I pray that you will awake from every slumber and see the new horizon. There is so much yet to be unveiled that only people of the spirit catch glimpses of.
Has it occurred to you that Moses, the servant of God, was carrying a rod that had so much power, and he wasn’t aware of it? The day the Lord opened his understanding, he saw his own rod moving like a serpent.
Our father Jacob walked in the midst of the sheep and the flock of Laban; and he didn’t know that he had so much influence to determine what they brought forth until the angel of the Lord enlightened him.
In these 70 days, let us pray that God will enlighten our understanding! May God open your eyes and show you the new dimension you must walk in. May you see His grace working for you! May you never miss the reality of new possibilities!
“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Proverbs 14:12-17 (KJV) — “There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. [13] Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of that mirth is heaviness. [14] The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. [15] The simple believes every word, but the prudent man looks well to his going. [16] A wise man fears, and departs from evil, but the fool rages and is confident. [17] He who is soon angry deals foolishly, and a man of wicked devices is hated.”
Out of the heart flows all issues of life
Proverbs 4:23-26 (KJV) — “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. [24] Put away from you a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from you. [25] Let your eyes look right on, and let your eyelids look straight before you. [26] Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established”
The heart is the epicenter of human actions, and the quality of the state of the heart can affect the quality of the choices and decisions we make.
Luke 6:43-45 (KJV) — “For a good tree brings not forth corrupt fruit, neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. [44] For every tree is known by its own fruit. For of thorns, men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush, do they gather grapes. [45] A good man, out of the good treasure of his heart, brings forth that which is good, and an evil man, out of the evil treasure of his heart, brings forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks”
The heart of the unregenerated man is deceitful and desperately wicked.
Jeremiah 17:9-11 (KJV) — “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Who can know it? [10] I, the Lord, search the heart. I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways and according to the fruit of his doings. [11] As the partridge sits on eggs and doesn’t hatch them; so he that gets riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.”
That is why sometimes we make decisions that seem so right at the beginning but turn out to end in death and disappointment.
Let us pray that our decisions and thoughts will be weighed and fine-tuned to yield the best results. It is the Lord who can search and weigh the thoughts of the heart. Be careful; the thoughts of the unregenerated heart.
Because your foolish heart can be darkened.
Romans 1:18-24 (KJV) — “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold the truth in unrighteousness; [19] because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has shown it to them. [20] For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse: [21] because, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. [22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, [23] and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. [24] Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves.”
The human heart can be hardened
Hebrews 3:13 (KJV) — “But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”
Pharaoh died a miserable death because his heart became hardened. Pray that God will enlighten your heart, so that it does not become hardened.
The unregenerated heart can become dull or stupid
The human heart can become dull and disabled.
Matthew 13:13-15 (KJV) — “Therefore, I speak to them in parables because they, seeing, do not see, and hearing, they hear not, neither do they understand. [14] And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which says, “By hearing, you shall hear and shall not understand; and seeing, you shall see and shall not perceive.” [15] For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them”
There are things the human mind is limited to receive and comprehend.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (KJV) — “But as it is written, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” [10] But God has”
revealed them unto us by His Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
Stay blessed
