Genesis 19:6–7 (KJV) — “And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.”
Many years ago, God decided to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of their great wickedness, and He sent two angels to rescue Lot and his family.
That night, the men of Sodom surrounded Lot’s house, demanding that he hand over the visitors to satisfy their evil desires.
In a moment of courage, Lot stepped outside, shut the door behind him, and pleaded with them not to act so wickedly.
In doing so, he stood between the holy and the profane, protecting what was sacred within his home.
In a city filled with darkness and moral decay, Lot stood at the door , the line between righteousness and corruption.
He chose to stand as a shield, refusing to let evil have its way. This moment reminds us that sometimes God calls us to “stand at the door”; to take a courageous position between what is right and what is wrong, even when it’s unpopular.
In a world where compromise is convenient, true faith means standing firm for godly values, even if you must stand alone.
Your stand may protect others, preserve light in a dark place, and prove your loyalty to God. Like Lot, let your life be a door that blocks wickedness and opens the way for righteousness to prevail.
Prayer:
Lord, give me the courage to stand for what is right, even when it costs me.
Make me a gatekeeper of righteousness in my family, my community, and my generation.
Help me to shine Your light boldly in dark places and to never compromise with evil.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
