How do you feed your faith, and cause it to grow?We have learned that there is a thin thread that connects prayers and answers to prayer; that is faith. Faith is the thing that makes prayer deliver results. You must believe if you ever want to receive answers to prayer.
[James 1:1-8 KJV] “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”
“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
I have no idea what you may be going through, but even if you are tossed to and fro by the strong tides and billows of life; I want you to know that God has a way out for you.
The Bible says “think it not strange when you fall into divers temptations.” There are times when life will not just let you rest. You seem to jump from one trouble to the other. You seem not to find a way out of those hard places; the Bible says that there is “a way of escape!” But you must ask for it if you want to find it. In any case, the thread or rope that connects asking to receive is the rope of faith.
“If any of us lacks wisdom, let him ask …” That is to say, “if anyone of us lacks a way out of the hard places, let him ask”. But the principle that governs asking and receiving is believing; so if you are asking, ask in faith, not in doubt. This is because a man who is in doubt cannot receive anything from God.
Then the Bible says that if you can’t ask in faith, don’t think about receiving anything from God. Anything means anything!
How then can you feed your faith?
How do you feed your faith, knowing that faith is that master key that delivers the results to your prayers?
The following are 5 ways to feed your faith;
- Stay in the atmosphere of preaching
- Open up to receive faith from God
- Associate with people who have enduring faith
- Keep your gaze on Jesus Christ
- Speak the word only
- Act on your faith
1. Stay in the atmosphere of preaching
The Bible tells us in Romans 10:17 that “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God“. The more you listen and watch the word, the greater your faith becomes.
2. Open up to receive faith from God
Romans 12:3 teaches that “God has dealt to every man the measure of faith”. Opening up to receive the measure of faith from God adds up to what you have.
Remember that 1 Corinthians 12 teaches about the gift of faith which the Holy Spirit also gives. Therefore, your faith can also grow as you open up to receive from the Holy Spirit.
3. Associate with people of enduring faith
Apostle Paul was persuaded of the faith that was in Timothy, which was also in his mother and grandmother. What you hang around has a way of modeling what you become.
4. Keep your gaze on Jesus Christ
The Bible teaches in Hebrews that if we don’t fix our gaze on Jesus Christ, we will become weary in our minds. Those who look up to Jesus and consider men like Job grow stronger in faith.
5. Speak the word of God only
The Bible tells us that the spirit of faith is speaking. What you say can impact how your faith grows. (Read 2 Corinthians 4:14)
6. Act on your faith
Without an iota of doubt, we all know that “faith without works is dead.” We must all keep our faith alive by adding works.
I do not doubt that with these few words you will keep the faith and keep the fire burning. My book Steps to Total Victory will help you to feed faith and grow in Christ
