There are three things God wants for His children; that you will prosper, and be in health, even as your soul prospers. This is God’s best for you. That is what God wants for all of His children; that you will keep improving in health, wealth, and worth.
[3 John 1:1-4 KJV] “The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
There is no greater joy to a pastor than to learn from other people that his sons or daughters in the Lord are walking in the truth. Many of us obey the truth when the pastor is around and they do their own thing when he travels. Many people do not keep the faith, let alone walk in the truth in the absence of the pastor. I wish that you will prosper, and be in health, even as your souls prosper.
The Apostle John is connecting health, prosperity, and walking in the truth; this is because;
- Many are prospering but not by walking in the truth.
- There are yet many more who are making it big but to the detriment of their health.
- There is yet another group who are walking in the truth but are either poor but healthy; or sick but wealthy; or both poor and sick.
It is very difficult to find people who have a good balance between health, wealth, and values. We must, however, aspire to maintain a good balance between health, wealth, and godly values.
If you want to prosper and be in health even as your soul prosper, then;
- Decide to walk in the truth
- Eat healthily and get enough sleep daily.
- Pray and stay active daily
- Stay away from blood, idols, sexual sins, and things that are strangled
- Censor what you watch or listen to
- Work smart and then hard
- Give and be socially responsible
1. Decide to Walk in the truth:
There is only one truth I know; decide to honour the assembling of ourselves together to fellowship, pray, sing, study, give, and go to re-present Christ to the world.
Many do not know who Christ is; our call is to know Him and make Him known to our generation. When we come together, it is to study and to receive power to go make Christ known.
2. Eat healthily and get enough sleep daily:
Let us strive to eat healthily; avoid alcohol, tobacco, junk food, and fake news, salt, sugar, and fats. May are unhealthy because of what they eat and drink.
Let us strive to get an average of 6 hours of sleep daily.
3. Pray and Stay active daily:
I believe that prayer and keeping fit must go hand in hand. Honestly, I don’t believe that you need a gym to stay fit; you just have to be active.
The world always talks about meditation and exercising; I believe it is the devil’s ploy to distract you from praying and to set you up in an atmosphere charged with lust and promiscuity all in the name of gyming.
The church can keep praying and staying active. Do the little chores around the house, walk distances you can, do your errands; sometimes, park and walk.
4. Keep yourself from blood, idols, strangled things, and sexual sins:
The fourth thing that is necessary to keep a balance between health, wealth and values is to keep yourself from blood, idols, sexual sins, and strangled things. The Bible says we shall do well when we do this (See Acts 15:19-20, 28-29)
5. Censor what you watch or listen to:
Be careful what and how you hear. What you watch and listen to will shape your perspectives and affect your conduct (See Proverbs 4:23-26)
6. Work smart and then hard:
Do whatsoever your hands find to do with all of your might, but remember wisdom is profitable to direct. In all your getting, get wisdom.
7. Give and be socially responsible:
Our Lord Jesus taught that it is more blessed to give than to receive; hence the need to both work hard and to be socially responsible to be able to give and support the weak.
Even though it is important to progress and advance, don’t ride over heads and hearts just to prosper.
I love you
